Stunning and modern Pre-wedding photoshoot in Shinjuku

In June, I was contacted by a couple from Canada as they wanted to have a Pre-Wedding photoshoot while in Japan. They wanted to have a good mix of street and nature pictures, while wearing their wedding clothes, as they fell in love in Japan while visiting the country 1 year prior. With this in mind, I recommended them to take pictures in Shinjuku and Yoyogi Park. The shoot took place early morning, to make sure that we would not have any issue with the crowds as well as the heat, as the temperature in Japan was starting to raise quite a bit.

1 - Omoide Yokocho

We first made our way to Omoide Yokocho. This place is well know among tourists for its very typical tiny streets and lanterns. Now as this was in the morning, it meant that the shops were not opened yet. It also meant that we could take our time for the pictures, as at night, the place gets packed with tourists and locals alike, as it is a very popular place to get food and drink in Shinjuku.

There, we focused on getting a good mix of candid and posed shots, both inside the alley but also on the outside of it. And both I and the couples were really happy with the results. The pictures are true to the atmosphere and really capture the complicity and the joy that the couple was feeling.

After a small break, we decided to take some pictures near the bridge across the street as well, as it would look great with the dress and veil. And the results were also stunning - a really modern vibe for this particular session - exactly what the couple wanted.

2 - Starbucks and Lawson

The couple also wanted to have some pictures taken while having some food, as well as while eating convenience store food, as they are really in love with the overall image and culture around it. We first made our way to a Starbucks in Shinjuku that I know has tables outside of it. As it was still early, I thought it would be a good idea to take pictures there while they would enjoy a coffee, which would make for a little break for them, especially for the bride to be, as she was walking around in heels, as well as great pictures. And the pictures speak for themselves - a very cute overall setup that really show how they interact with each others.

Afterwards, we made our way to a nearby Lawson so that they would be able to grab some onigiris to enjoy. And those are some of my favorite pictures of the shoot - their love for food is just apparent, they are having fun and the pictures are just full of joy.

3 - Yoyogi Park

Finally, we made our way to Yoyogi park to take pictures surrounded by nature. It only took about 5min in taxi from Shinjuku to get there. Once there, we made our way to the rose garden to take some pictures of both of them with the flowers. It was the end of the rose season but we still managed to find some bloomed flowers to get some beautiful shots.

However my favorite part about Yoyogi Park is definitely the immense trees that it has and the amazing shots with them. In summer, the vegetation is dense and green and really feel amazing to be in. And as it was still early we had a lot of empty benches to get a good mix of wide and tight shots and make this session nothing short than amazing.
