Amazing Proposal at the Imperial Palace of Tokyo
In September, I was contacted by a young man wanting to propose to his girlfriend in Japan. Initially, he wanted to propose in front of Mt Fuji but due to weather conditions, we came up with another plan, as the mountain would not be visible for the whole week when he would travel Japan. We thus decided to go to the Imperial Palace for him to ask the big question.
Proposal at the imperial palace
Prior to the proposal, I went to scout the area to make sure that it would be ok at that time. There are sometimes events in that area, or it can happen that they close it partially for special occasions. So I always try to go ahead of time to scout the surroundings, to know exactly where I can position myself, which focal I would want to use etc… I then contacted Rahul and told him that I was ready whenever he was. So they made their way by cab from their hotel, and we managed to coordinate on his position thanks to the live location sharing of WhatsApp.
When they reached the location, luckily there was not too many people. This spot can get crowded with tours based on the timing. But if you get there early enough there should be no problem. So I explained to him how to position himself and gave him my position and what to do. Everything happened smoothly and he was ready to ask the BIG question.
However at the moment when he started to get on his knees, I spotted a group of tourist about to get in front of them to take pictures with their phone and get in the shot. I think I ran that 50m in 3s… or at least that’s how it felt. I want to keep it a surprise but I also want to make sure I get the best shot of the moment for my clients so I nicely ask them so that I can capture the moment. And they did and the result turned out great. She said yes and the proposal at the imperial palace of Toyko was a success.
Additional Couple Pictures at the Tokyo Imperial Palace
After the proposal, I gave them some time to enjoy the moment and process the emotion. Once they were ready, we took additional pictures in front of the palace itself. I always have a set of poses that I enjoy going for to showcase the couple’s love for one another. So if you are not comfortable in front of the camera and need help, do not worry, I will make sure to direct you to get the best results possible. We took additional pictures for the remaining of the hour and overall it was a success.
After the session, I always send 2 same day edits to the couple so that they can share the good news with their family and friends. They were extremely happy to receive them and it was another very successful proposal in Tokyo.
