5 MUST SEE Cherry Blossom Spots in Tokyo

If you are planning to visit Tokyo during the cherry blossom season, here are 5 spots that you might want to consider visiting. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list but a list of places that I personally visited several times and that I would recommend for any travelers out there.

1 - Shibuya Sakuragaoka

Sakuragaoka in Shibuya

Sakuragaoka, located in Shibuya, is one of the most beautiful spot that you can find in Tokyo. The tunnel of cherry blossoms that go up hill, the curve streets and the general atmosphere make it for an amazing experience for you to have. However, be aware that, like most other spots in Tokyo, you need to get there early before it gets too crowded if you want to have the best experience. This particular shot was taken at 6:30AM and about 1hour after visiting it, it was packed with people. So wake up a little early and make sure you can get the best time and the best shots!

2 - Nakano

Cherry blossom in Nakano, Tokyo

Nakano is also one spot that you ABSOLUTELY wants to visit during your time in Tokyo if you want to see cherry blossom. The main street of the area is about 1km long and full of cherry blossom on both ways, which makes for countless picture spots and for an amazing walk. The city is also home for amazing cafes, restaurants and fun things to do, which are just more reasons to visit this spot. If you also want to photograph trains and cherry blossom, you can also go until the end of the road for this splendid view. This area has a lot to offer and you might want to have a look at it!

3 - Josenin

Cherry Blossom in Josenin, Shinjuku

Josenin is a small temple in the heart of Shinjuku that can be overlooked. If you do not know about this spot, you can walk in front of it without realizing that it is here. But once you get past the gate of the temple, you are in for an amazing experience with a breathtaking view of a huge cherry blossom tree, a beautiful cemetery , and all of this in the middle of the city. Countless people pass by this temple and don’t realize the beauty that it hides within, so if you feel curious about it, I definitely recommend that you give it a try! And if you need a photographer there, make sure to contact me!

4 - Chidorigafuchi

Cherry Blossom in Chidorigafuchi near the Tokyo Imperial Palace

If you are looking to take a romantic boat ride in the water around the imperial palace surrounded by cherry blossom, then this is the perfect spot for you. It is surprisingly calm for being in the center of the city, offers an amazing scenery for anyone in search of cherry blossoms in Tokyo. However, be aware that if you want to ride the boats, you will need to get there early to queue, as the boat rides opens at 9AM but people starts queuing from 8AM.

5 - Shinjuku Gyoen

Shinjuku Gyoen is another of these places that are right in the middle of the city but feels just like you are miles away from it. You will be transported in a dense vegetation and if you make your way to the Japanese garden part of the park, be surrounded by cherry blossoms. The park costs 500¥ to access but it is definitely worth it in my opinion, as it is huge and offers tons of spots for you to enjoy cherry blossoms.

So during your next trip to Japan, make sure that you enjoy these spots. And if you need someone to immortalize your trip and create amazing memories, feel free to contact me and I will be happy to help.
