Engagement Photoshoot in Prince Shiba Park in Tokyo - A look behind the scene

In Spring 2024, I was contacted by a client who was traveling from the US to Japan for a few days and wanted to take engagement pictures in Tokyo. After discussing with them, we settled on the surrounding of Tokyo tower, one of the most iconic spots in Tokyo.

1 - Prince Shiba Park

We first made our way to the Shiba Prince Park. This park is one of my favorite in Tokyo when it comes to have a clear and beautiful view of the tower. It is located slightly higher than the rest of the city, which allows for clear and beautiful shots of the Tower while providing with a beautiful green area, which gives enough space for the couple to move around and try out different poses.

Not only did we take wide angle candid pictures of the couple evolving in the garden but we also took more posed shots to allow for really intimate shots and really showcase the emotion and interaction between both of them. And they were really happy about it, as everything went very smoothly and easily. And it shows! All the pictures are filled with emotions and show how they are attached to each others. For me the best pictures are the ones where I feel like I am documenting how they interact with each others, not necessarily the best poses. But I do love when I can get a bit of both. Interactions while the couple is posing.

The park is also home to a beautiful rose garden. And if you come in May, it is the perfect season to take advantage of this beautiful environment and can make for great couple pictures. The garden also features beautiful arches to take great pictures surrounded by nature, flowers and really showcase add to those pictures.

Not only will you get amazing pictures with the Tokyo Tower but you will also enjoy amazing flowers and if you are into that garden look and feel, you will feel right at home. What do you think about those?

2 - Zojo-ji Temple

Only a few minutes away from the Shiba Prince Park is Zojo-ji. This is one of the most ancient buddhist temples in Tokyo and is also a great spot for amazing pictures during your visit. Not only do the surrounding of the main building themselves and its terrace make for great environment for pictures but the main gate of the temple is also an amazing area that will make your pictures look grandiose.

It is a great spot for you to try different poses and really enjoy the nature mixed with the architecture of the temple in the middle of the busy city of Tokyo. A great mix for great pictures.

3 - Street pictures near Tokyo Tower

And finally, we made our way in streets near the Tower to enjoy the landscape of the city and have a mix of candid pictures where the couple really enjoys and walk around while I am here to document the scene. I personally love this kind of environment because the couple is free to interact and behave the way that they usually do. That’s the kind of moment where they feel the more at ease and will enjoy themselves the most.

At the end of the day, that’s what really matters for me. The experience. If we have a photoshoot together, I want you to enjoy yourself, to kind of forget that I am here. Because the whole experience is not about me but really about you having a great time and creating unique memories, whether it is through the pictures that we create together or through the memories that you will have from this experience.
