An Anime-Inspired Photoshoot Session in Kawaguchiko
In Japanese folklore, the Red String of Fate is said to connect soulmates, no matter the distance, circumstances, or time. Invisible to the eye but unbreakable, this thread weaves the stories of destined lovers.
When Nathalie and Glenn contacted me for an anniversary photoshoot, they wanted something beyond the usual romantic portraits, something that captured their unique connection. Inspired by anime and tradition, we brought their vision to life with a red-string theme, elegant kimonos, and the timeless beauty of Kawaguchiko.
Planning the Experience
Since they needed transportation from Tokyo, I personally arranged that to make sure everything was smooth and stress-free for the couple. I also took care of the kimono rentals, securing beautifully crafted garments that perfectly matched the aesthetic they wanted.
I wanted to make sure Nathalie and Glenn could focus on enjoying the moment while I handled the details.
Finding the Right Locations
The day of the shoot arrived with a cloudy sky, which meant the iconic view of Mt. Fuji wasn’t as visible as we had hoped. But in photography, flexibility is key. Instead of relying on Fuji as the main backdrop, I found other scenic spots that still captured the beauty of Kawaguchiko.
The soft lighting from the overcast sky actually worked to our advantage, creating an intimate and dreamy atmosphere that complemented the theme beautifully.
Capturing the Essence of Their Love
Throughout the shoot, Nathalie and Glenn embraced the experience wholeheartedly. The red string symbolized their connection, weaving its way through the shots as a unique visual element. Every photo told a part of their story.
They were beyond happy with the final images, and seeing their joy reminded me why I love doing what I do – helping couples create memories they’ll treasure forever.
