It started with a message in my inbox. He was determined, reaching out with a heartfelt request—he and his girlfriend were traveling from Turkey to Japan, and he had something special planned. Tucked away in his suitcase was a ring, and he was looking for someone to capture the moment he would ask the question that would change their lives forever.
But instead of the usual Tokyo landmarks, he wanted something different. They weren’t drawn to the bright lights or bustling tourist spots; they longed for a setting that felt more natural, more intimate—somewhere that truly reflected their story.
I couldn’t have been more excited as I have also fallen in love with the city’s pockets of tranquility—the places where Japan’s natural beauty creates the perfect backdrop for unforgettable moments.
Finding the Perfect Spot in Tokyo's Spring
After several back-and-forth conversations discussing what kind of setting they envisioned, I suggested several locations around Tokyo that might work for what he had in mind. Each spot has its personality, especially in spring when the city transforms with cherry blossoms.
Then, we landed on the perfect spot: Shinjuku Gyoen. And suddenly, everything clicked. Shinjuku Gyoen is a dream for proposals, evolving beautifully with the seasons. But there’s something truly special about cherry blossom season, we knew this was the place.
Planning the Perfect Moment
As the day drew closer, we fine-tuned every detail to make sure everything unfolded seamlessly. I suggested they enter through the Shinjuku Gate and follow the path I had mapped out, leading them to the perfect spot.

As they made their way slowly along the path, she had no idea that her boyfriend was growing increasingly nervous with each step, his hand likely feeling the outline of the ring box in his pocket.
